FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What is Keystone Kickers?
Keystone Kickers is Central Pennsylvania's specialized introductory soccer program designed for the youngest athletes (typically ages 3 to 5). Our mission is to spark a lifelong love of soccer through fun, age-appropriate movement, and positive coaching.
How is your curriculum different?
Our curriculum was designed by physical educators who are also experienced soccer coaches. This ensures that every session prioritizes fundamental motor skill development (coordination, balance, agility) alongside basic soccer techniques, making the learning process effective, safe, and developmentally appropriate.
Is the program focused on winning or development?
Our focus is 100% on development and fun. We create a supportive, pressure-free environment where children can build confidence, learn new skills, and foster a positive relationship with physical activity.
What ages are the sessions for?
Keystone Kickers is specifically designed for U4 and U5 players (ages 3 to 5). Please check the registration page for the precise birth year groupings for the current season.
How long does a season last?
Seasons typically run for 6 weeks in both the Fall and Spring. Please refer to your region's registration page for exact dates and session lengths.
How often are the sessions and how long do they last?
Players attend one session per week. Each session is typically 45 minutes in length, designed to keep young players engaged and energized without causing fatigue.
Where are the programs held?
Keystone Kickers runs programs in various locations across Central Pennsylvania, including Gettysburg, Mechanicsburg, and York regions. You will select your preferred location during registration.
What equipment does my child need?
Each child should wear comfortable athletic clothing, shin guards (mandatory for safety), and comfortable athletic shoes or cleats. Please also bring a water bottle. A Keystone Kickers shirt is provided with registration.
What is the coach-to-player ratio?
We maintain a low coach-to-player ratio (no greater than 12:1) to ensure every child receives individual attention, guidance, and a safe experience.

Keystone Kickers is the first step in the Keystone FC Player Pathway. After this introductory program, your child can transition seamlessly into the Youth Development Program (YDP) (U5-U8) for continued foundational learning and their first structured games.
Do you have a competitive program?
Yes. The Keystone Kickers program leads into the Keystone FC Youth Development Program (YDP) and Recreation Program. From there, players have the option to try out for the Keystone FC Competitive Program (United, Elite, Premier) for older age groups if they wish to increase their commitment and intensity.
Can my child continue to play with friends?
Yes, the YDP and Recreation Programs within the Keystone FC Grassroots structure are designed to accept friend requests to support the social development of our young players.
